Million Dollar Man Schuchart Steals Williams Grove Loot
Hanover native makes last corner pass for Summer Nationals win

Mechanicsburg – An energized Logan Schuchart drove his C & D Rigging No. 1S into the lead ahead of Brad Sweet as the pair raced to the checkers on Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway in the opening night of the 2023 Champion Racing Oil World of Outlaws Summer Nationals.

Schuchart chased polesitter Brad Sweet for the entire distance after the start of the 25-lap sprint car feature until the pair exited the fourth corner with the checkered flag in sight.

That’s when Schuchart struck to steal the $15,000 loot from Sweet’s pocket a little more than a week after becoming a millionaire by claiming the Eldora Speedway Million for sprint cars.

After entering traffic on lap eight, Sweet tried to get away from the field with good success during the mid-stages of the race.

Schuchart struggled with traffic as Sweet raced through it and with 10 laps to go, Sweet held nearly a straightaway lead over the field.

But Schuchart soldiered on and as the race entered its final five circuits, Sweet began hanging on the cushion in the first corner and by the time the white flag waved, Schuchart was within striking distance.

The Hanover native cruised his sprinter into the first turn on the low side and pulled alongside Sweet as the pair traversed the corners.

Sweet then got back ahead as the raced moved onto the backstretch before shooting low into the third turn while Schuchart sailed his machine in on the high side.

And as Sweet came up off of the turn to catch the cushion and ride to the win, Schuchart dropped off of it and swung to Sweet’s inside for a drag race to the finish in which he nosed ahead.

The margin of victory for Schuchart’s first World of Outlaws win at the track was .078 seconds.

Aside from the posted $15,000 winner’s share, Schuchart collected a $500 bonus from WC Eshenaur and Sons for a last lap pass for the win.

It was his fourth overall victory at Williams Grove in a 410 sprint car but his first while in outlaws competition.

His grandfather and car owner Bobby Allen owns 36 victories at the oval.

Sweet was gunning for his second Summer Nationals win in a row and his second of the year at the track after scoring a win there in May.

Round one of the Summer Nationals also served to crown the 2023 Morgan Cup Champion after the race was lost to rain in May.

By virtue of the win falling to an outlaws regular, Morgan Cup laurels and the trophy cup itself will now spend the next year at outlaws headquarters in North Carolina.

Heats went to Carson Macedo, Schuchart, Gio Scelzi and Cory Eliason.

Sweet won the dash to earn the pole for the feature while Spencer Bayston won the B Main.

Macedo set quick time with a lap of 17.056 seconds.
