Mechanicsburg â€“ The World of Outlaws will invade Williams Grove Speedway this Friday and Saturday night, May 15 and 16, at 7:30 pm.

The invasion by the traveling band will be the first of three clashes between the outlaws and the Pennsylvania Posse this year.

On Friday night, the 25-lap sprint car winner will receive $8,000 while Saturday’s champion of a 30-lap feature will walk away with $12,000 plus another $5,000 for being crowned the 2015 Morgan Cup champion.

The Morgan Cup title is bestowed in honor of late speedway owner Morgan Hughes and the winner’s side of the title will take ownership of the sterling Morgan Cup for another season.

The trophy will be kept at either World of Outlaws headquarters in Concord, NC., or at the offices of Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg.  

Three charities will receive gift baskets during the weekend including the Williams Grove portions of the 50/50 drawing on both nights. 

Recipients of the oval’s donations will be The Bethesda Project, the Kiwanis of Dillsburg and the Pennsylvania State Police CampCadet. 

The Bethesda Project is located in Philadelphia and provides shelter, housing and programs reaching out to chronically homeless men and women.

Kiwanis is a service organization that helps local communities by raising money for people in need, providing volunteers for fundraisers and more.

At Camp Cadet, youngsters learn about law enforcement and the judiciary system as taught by the State Police at the weeklong camp. 

Last year’s May WoO shows at Williams Grove saw circuit regular Daryn Pittman sweep the two-day stand while an outlaw in the form of David Gravel scored the National Open.

However the Summer Nationals in July were scored by a pair of PA Posse pilots in the form of Greg Hodnett and Lance Dewease.

Hodnett currently leads the Williams Grove Speedway point standings and by most accounts is “outlaw fast” at this point in the season.    

The World of Outlaws series will hit town with Donny Schatz leading Shane Stewart and Brad Sweet in circuit points.

Adult general admission for both outlaws shows is $30 with youth admitted both nights for just $15.    

Kids ages 12 and under are always admitted free at Williams Grove Speedway!
