Williams Grove Cancels April 1
Mechanicsburg - With the predicted cold front sweeping through the region and ensuing wind gusts predicted to reach as high as 40 mph into the afternoon, Williams Grove Speedway has decided to cancel tonight's racing program.
While the winds are predicted to subside somewhat by evening, temperatures are expected to drop to near 40-degrees by 9 pm, making the prospect for racing untenable for both fans and drivers alike.
Severe thunderstorms hit the track Thursday evening, more rain showers hit the speedway mid-morning Friday and again during the early afternoon, factoring into the decision.
The speedway also considers the cancellation an effective in the face of asking teams to exhaust their equipment in the undesirable cold temperatures that are expected to prevail.
The track returns to action on Friday night, April 8 at 7:30 pm with the 410 and 358 sprint cars.
