All Stars Invade Williams Grove To Contest Tommy Classic This Week, Locals Tune Up For Outlaws Summer Nationals
Mechanicsburg – Williams Grove Speedway will host the All Stars Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars as they compete in the Tommy Hinnershitz Classic against the Pennsylvania Posse Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars coming up this Friday, July 17 at 7:30 pm.
The 2020 Tommy Classic will pay $5,000 to the winner of the 30-lap affair and it will serve as the tune-up for the World of Outlaws Summer Nationals coming up at the track on July 24 and 25.
Also on the July 17 racing program will be the HJ Towing & Recovery 358 sprint cars. As a note to race teams, please be aware that 358 sprints will be pitted in the back parking lot for this event.
Adult general admission for the show is $20 with ages 13-20 admitted for just $10. Kids ages 12 and under are always FREE at Williams Grove Speedway.
The race will be the first of three appearances by the All Stars still remaining this season on the Williams Grove Schedule.
Last year in the All Stars Tommy Classic, All Stars regular and champion Aaron Reutzel of Clute, Texas, took the win during what was a historic year at the track for the All Stars and Reutzel.
Just a few weeks earlier, in another All Stars program at Williams Grove, Reutzel took a popular win and in doing so became the first card-carrying, All Stars series traveler to ever win a race at the track dating back to 1970 when the series began.
And Reutzel is likely to be out front again this week at Williams Grove as he is the current All Stars point leader over California’s Cory Eliason, with five series wins on the season to date.
Other All Stars expected to invade aside from the top two include Paul McMahan, Skyler Gee, Zeb Wise, Josh Baughman and Greg Wilson.
So far this season at Williams Grove, Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint car winners have been Carson Macedo, Lance Dewease, Kyle Larson and Steve Buckwalter.
Dewease is a six-time Tommy Classic winner.
Part of the 2020 Hoosier Diamond Series at Williams Grove, the Tommy Classic is run in honor of the late all-time great Hinnershitz of Oley, Pennsylvania.
Hinnershitz won the very first race contested at Williams Grove Speedway in 1939.
