July 22/23 sprint car war to unfold
7/17/16
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mechanicsburg – Williams Grove Speedway will present the two-day Champion Racing Oil World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Summer Nationals this Friday and Saturday night, July 22 and 23, at 7:30 pm.
Lineups both nights will be set using time trials with Friday’s feature going 25-laps in distance, paying $8,000 to win.
Saturday’s 30-lap finale will pay a hefty $20,000 to the victor plus the driver will receive another $5,000 for NAPA/NGK Morgan Cup laurels.
Held over after being rained out in May, the Morgan Cup is awarded each year in honor of the oval’s late owner with the sterling trophy being housed for another year at either Williams Grove Speedway or World of Outlaws headquarters, assigned to go home with whichever camp the event winner hails from – Pennsylvania Posse or World of Outlaws.
The mid-summer outlaws invasion will again stage a battle between the sprint car warring factions known as the Pennsylvania Posse and the World of Outlaws travelers.
Back in May when the outlaws made their first stop of the season at Williams Grove, local driver Lance Dewease drove the Don Kreitz-owned No. 69K to a thrilling victory, scoring one for the Pennsylvania Posse.
Dewease was the 2014 Summer Nationals Champion and no doubt will again be primed for action this time around, having been rejuvenated this season at the helm of the potent, famed No. 69K
In fact, Dewease just recorded the Summer Nationals tune up race on July 15.
In last year’s Summer Nationals, Danny Dietrich and Stevie Smith proved victorious, sweeping the outlaws weekend for the posse stars and fans.
Dietrich enters this weeks Posse/Outlaws match-up as the current Williams Grove Speedway Lawrence Chevrolet Sprints point leader in a quest for a career first track title.
Over the years, Posse stars Greg Hodnett, Dewease, Don Kreitz Jr., Fred Rahmer, Brian Leppo, Jason Johnson and Cody Darrah have taken victories in Summer Nationals action.
Likewise, outlaws pilots Danny Lasoski, Joey Saldana, Paul McMahan, Craig Dollansky, Terry McCarl and Jason Meyers have also taken event wins along with Donny Schatz.
The current outlaws point leader, Schatz’s most recent Summer Nationals victory came in 2013.
Schatz currently owns 15 wins on the outlaws touring season while Brad Sweet has scored seven. Daryn Pittman has six to date.
Adult general admission for both shows is $30 with youth ages 13 – 20 priced at $15.
Kids ages 12 and under are always admitted for free at Williams Grove Speedway!
